Saudi-based nursing professor is hailed as one of the most outstanding OFW men in 2024

The Overseas Filipino Workers Congress held its 9th Congress and 26th Anniversary with the theme, Love and Unity: Celebrating Excellence in Community Service. This momentous event gives recognition and commendation to deserving OFW men and women through robust and comprehensive selection deliberations who stood out in various fields of community service, professional excellence, and inspirational success stories.

For this year, nine (9) men and five (5) women were honored and given medals, trophies, certificates, and honor stoles to celebrate their respective achievements in specific fields and categories. His Excellency Ambassador Raymond R, Balatbat, Philippine Ambasador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Republic of Yemen, and Honorable Hector B. Cruz, Jr., Labor Attaché of the Migrant Workers Office-Eastern Region Operations, graced the event and awarded the Most Outstanding Men and Women of 2024 together with the OFW Congress Eastern Province leaders: Mr. Judy Jadormio (President), Ricardo J. Chuidian, Jr. (Executive Vice President and Chairman of the Selection Committee), Mrs. Mary Jane Pajarillo Tupas, and Mr. Andrew Nathaniel Santos (Members of the Advisory Council).

Dr. Jordan Tovera Salvador, a university professor and a registered nurse, was one of the awardees and honored as one of the most outstanding OFW men in 2024 with the “Professional Excellence Award.” Dr. Salvador is currently working as the Assistant Vice Dean for Development and Community Partnership in the College of Nursing at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University in Dammam, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. He is an assistant professor in nursing education and chairperson for quality assurance and accreditation at the college.

Dr. Salvador’s selection for the prestigious award were due to his major contributions in teaching and learning, quality assurance and accreditation, and research in the nursing profession. Amongst his accomplisments for quality assurance and accreditation in the nursing college were as follows: (1) National Accreditation and Reaccreditation for the College of Nursing from National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA) with full status for 7 years and (2) International Accreditation for the College of Nursing from Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) with full status for 5 years. Moreover, he also authored numerous published articles in internationally peer-reviewed scientific journals and received various awards and recognitions such as: (1) Excellence Awards for publishing in Q1 Journals; (2) Research Grant awarded from the Deanship of Scientific Research and Innovation; (3) Leadership Development Proposal Awardee from University of California San Francisco (Alpha Eta, Sigma Theta Tau International – Honor Society of Nursing); (4) Jean Watson’s Human Caring Institute Research Grant Awardee in 2015 and 2017; and (5) Sigma Theta Tau International – Emily Anderson’s Leadership Grant Recipient for Asia and the Pacific in 2016 Representing Pi Iota Chapter, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Moreover, Dr. Salvador continuously shares his expertise in the community by providing free seminars, workshops, and speaking engagements to various organizations in the kingdom. He is currently an active member of the Knights of Rizal Eastern Province Community Chapter and Philippine Nurses Association as well. This makes him truly deserving of the Most Outstanding OFW Men 2024 , Professional Excellence Award.
