The Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) has asked the Supreme Court for an extension to submit its response to the petition challenging the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
In a motion filed on February 21, the OSG stated that while a draft of its comment has been completed, further revisions and corrections are still being made before its official submission.
The Supreme Court had earlier instructed the OSG to comment on the petition, which was filed by former Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez on January 27. Rodriguez questioned the constitutionality of the 2025 budget, citing the absence of mandatory funding for PhilHealth, unapproved spending increases, and the prioritization of infrastructure over education. He also flagged the inclusion of blank items in the Bicameral Conference Committee Report.
Named as respondents in the case are the House of Representatives, Senate, and Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
The Supreme Court will hold a preliminary conference on February 28, with oral arguments set for April 1.
