Latin Americans unite in prayer for Pope Francis amid health crisis

Latin Americans are offering prayers and attending masses for Pope Francis as the Vatican confirmed that the Argentine-born pontiff is in critical condition at a hospital in Rome.

From Mexico to Argentina, Catholic communities gathered to light candles and seek divine intervention for the first Latin American leader of the Catholic Church. In Buenos Aires, a nighttime projection at the iconic Obelisk displayed the message “the city prays for you” in support of Francis.

Argentine priest Adrian Bennardins praised the pope for fostering a more inclusive and fraternal church, while worshippers like Grisel Jimenez in Mexico City expressed a deep cultural connection with him.

In Brazil, the world’s largest Catholic nation, faithful congregants also joined in collective prayers, believing in the spiritual power of unity.

Pope Francis, who has led the Catholic Church since 2013, began his religious journey as a Jesuit priest before becoming Archbishop of Buenos Aires. His health condition remains closely watched by millions of devoted followers worldwide.
