Actress and entrepreneur Nadine Lustre has thrown her support behind the Mamamayang Liberal (ML) party-list, led by former Senator Leila de Lima, in its bid for a seat in the House of Representatives.
In a video message shared by the group on Thursday, Lustre expressed frustration over those in power who misuse their authority and fail to provide transparency in handling public funds.
“Real talk. Sawa na ba kayo? Sawa na sa mga abusado sa kapangyarihan? Sa mga nasa pwesto na hindi marunong magpaliwanag kung saan napunta ang pera ng bayan?” Lustre said, adding that political theatrics should be left to entertainment, not governance.
She also voiced support for de Lima, who was detained for seven years on drug-related charges that were eventually dismissed. “Si Manay Leila de Lima, ilang taong ikinulong ng walang kasalanan. Pero, lumaban. Ngayon, kasama niya ang ML Party List para ipaglaban ng katarungan, pananagutan, at tunay na representasyon,” she added.
The ML party-list’s second nominee is former Ifugao Representative Teddy Brawner Baguilat Jr., while former House Deputy Speaker Erin Tañada is its third nominee.
