Marcos: 4Ps helps 678,000 families stand on their own, over 1M students graduate

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that nearly 680,000 Filipino families have successfully transitioned to self-sufficiency through the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

Speaking at the 74th anniversary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Marcos Jr. highlighted the program’s impact, noting that over a million high school students and nearly 470,000 elementary students have completed their education with the program’s support.

Since its implementation, 4Ps has provided financial aid to marginalized families, ensuring children receive proper education and nutrition. In 2023, more than 4 million households benefited from the program.

The President also lauded 40,000 4Ps beneficiaries who passed their licensure exams, including 65 top examinees in various fields.

Despite these successes, Marcos Jr. emphasized the need to go beyond financial aid. “Progress requires more than just assistance. It demands opportunities for growth and livelihood,” he said. The government, through agencies like the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), offers training programs to help beneficiaries establish sustainable income sources.

Marcos Jr. also commended the DSWD’s commitment to social welfare and urged vigilance against challenges like climate change, which increasingly threatens vulnerable communities.

“Every centavo spent must create lasting opportunities that uplift lives,” he said, reinforcing the administration’s goal of building a resilient and inclusive society.
