Dubai Police have confiscated 23 vehicles this year after their owners were caught altering number plates to evade smart monitoring systems and traffic regulations.
In a post on X, authorities confirmed that modifying license plates is a serious violation of traffic laws. A video shared online shows individuals using spray paint and removing plates in an attempt to bypass detection.
Dubai Police warned that such offenses will be dealt with strictly, emphasizing that violators will have their vehicles impounded. Under Decree No. 30 of 2023, the fine for releasing an impounded vehicle due to number plate tampering is set at Dh50,000.
