Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, who is seeking reelection, responded to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s recent statements against former President Rodrigo Duterte and his allies.
Dela Rosa questioned why the administration was targeting their group if they were supposedly insignificant. “If we are an insignificant opposition, then why bother with us? The fact that no less than the President himself is attacking us means we are somebody,” he said.
During the proclamation rally of the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas on February 11, Marcos emphasized that none of the senatorial candidates he endorsed were involved in bloodshed or corruption.
Dela Rosa also addressed Marcos’ remarks implying that some candidates had minimal political experience, likening them to vinegar delivery workers. “Let’s not belittle those who used to sell vinegar because dreaming of becoming a senator is not forbidden,” he asserted.
