First Lady Liza Marcos joins UAE-Philippines agreements signing at World Governments Summit

First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos is currently in the United Arab Emirates for a working visit from February 12-13, 2025, where she has participated in key diplomatic engagements at the World Governments Summit in Dubai.

During her visit, the First Lady witnessed the signing of three major treaties between the Philippines and the UAE, including agreements on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, the Transfer of Sentenced Persons, and Extradition. These treaties aim to strengthen judicial cooperation and enhance bilateral legal frameworks between the two nations.

In a separate signing event, First Lady Marcos also observed the formalization of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Reducing Plastic Waste Leakage to the Oceans in the Philippines. This initiative aligns with the country’s environmental goals and is expected to bolster efforts in marine conservation.

Additionally, she delivered a special address at the Collaborative Models for Development Forum at the summit, where she highlighted the importance of international cooperation in addressing global challenges.
