A man armed with what appeared to be a firearm inside a black plastic bag attempted to rob a bank in Gijang, Busan, South Korea, causing panic among staff and customers. However, authorities later discovered that the weapon was merely a dinosaur-designed water gun.
Surveillance footage showed the suspect, wearing a face mask and jacket, entering the bank carrying an attache case. Shortly after, he declared a robbery and pointed the supposed weapon at those inside.
Failing to gain access to the locked manager’s office, the suspect demanded bank employees fill his bag with cash, specifically asking for 50,000 won (around PHP 2,000). As he forced people to kneel, a courageous customer tackled him to the ground, with others helping to restrain him until the police arrived.
A bank official acknowledged the fear the incident caused, stating, “People might find it clumsy or even humorous that a water gun was inside the plastic bag. But at the time, the situation was extremely serious and frightening, leaving women employees and customers in fear.”
The 30-year-old suspect is now in police custody, though authorities have not yet disclosed his motive. Meanwhile, the police plan to recognize the bravery of the man who subdued the suspect.
