Dubai has introduced a new law regulating the use of the Emirate of Dubai and Government of Dubai logos, with violators facing fines of up to AED 500,000 or imprisonment of up to five years.
Issued by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the law strictly prohibits the unauthorized use of these logos for commercial purposes, including advertising and product promotion.
Additionally, any act that distorts, devalues, or misrepresents the logos is forbidden. Their use in activities that contradict Dubai’s values, public order, or morals is also strictly prohibited.
The Dubai Emirate logo is reserved for designated locations, events, documents, and seals with special authorization. Meanwhile, the Dubai Government logo is used exclusively on government-related buildings, sites, events, documents, and applications.
To ensure proper usage, a guideline prepared by the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of Dubai must be followed. The law also mandates that individuals who are aware of violations report them to the relevant authorities, who will take legal action against offenders.
