Harry Roque: VP Duterte’s impeachment a betrayal of 32 million Filipinos

Former Presidential spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque has strongly criticized the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte by the House of Representatives, calling it an insult to millions of Filipinos.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, Roque expressed his dismay over the decision, stating that it disregards the trust of more than 32 million Filipinos who voted for Duterte.

“We strongly condemn the impeachment of Vice President Inday Sara Duterte. This is a massive insult to the millions who supported and trusted her,” Roque said.

He also slammed the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., labeling its budget as the “most corrupt in history.” Roque further accused the government of failing to address economic issues, citing rising poverty and hunger levels.

“The public is outraged by the plundering of national funds, the approval of the most corrupt budget in history, and the administration’s failure to curb inflation, leading to the highest poverty rate in 21 years and the worst hunger crisis since the COVID-19 lockdown,” he added.

Roque also alleged that the Marcos-Araneta-Romualdez political faction is manipulating institutions to weaken the Dutertes and their allies.

“Filipinos are patient, but they are not blind to how this political triumvirate is corrupting institutions to eliminate the Dutertes and their supporters,” he said.
