Paolo Duterte slams ‘politically motivated’ impeachment of VP Sara Duterte

Davao City Representative Paolo Duterte has strongly condemned the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte, calling it a “desperate and politically motivated” effort. His statement comes amid growing tensions as lawmakers push forward with multiple impeachment complaints against the Vice President.

“I am appalled and enraged by the desperate and politically motivated efforts to railroad the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte,” Duterte said in a statement. “The sinister maneuvering of certain lawmakers, led by Rep. Garin, to hastily collect signatures and push for the immediate approval and transmittal of this baseless impeachment case is a clear act of political persecution.”

Duterte also warned the administration about the potential consequences of their actions, referencing the recent mass gathering of over a million Iglesia Ni Cristo supporters. “If they were unfazed by the over one million rallying supporters of the Iglesia Ni Cristo, then they are blindly marching toward an even greater storm—one that could shake the very foundation of their rule.”

He further accused the Marcos administration of suppressing opposition voices through “fabricated accusations” and cautioned that growing public dissatisfaction could lead to unrest. “The Filipino people will not sit idly by as this government undermines democracy and silences opposition,” he added.
