Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets in Southern California on Sunday to protest mass deportations proposed by President Donald Trump. In Los Angeles, protesters marched from the historic Olvera Street to City Hall, demanding immigration reform and carrying signs with messages like “Nobody is illegal.”
According to an AP report, the demonstration escalated in the afternoon when marchers blocked all lanes of U.S. 101, causing severe traffic disruptions. Protesters sat on the freeway while California Highway Patrol officers stood by. Authorities reported that it took over five hours for traffic to resume, but no arrests were made.
Similar protests were held in Riverside and San Diego, where hundreds gathered to voice their opposition to increased deportations. Demonstrators waved flags and received support from passing motorists.
Beyond California, protests also took place in downtown Dallas, Texas, where around 1,600 people participated in two separate rallies. Marchers carried both Mexican and American flags, while speakers condemned the Trump administration’s immigration policies. Some protesters held signs reading, “Immigrants Make America Great.”
