Rev. Fr. Luciano Felloni, an Argentinian missionary priest who dedicated his life to rehabilitating drug dependents in the Philippines, passed away on Sunday at the age of 51.
The Diocese of Novaliches confirmed his passing in a social media announcement, expressing gratitude for the prayers and support from the community.
Felloni, who was fluent in Filipino, was widely known for his parish-based rehabilitation program, which provided counseling to drug users and helped many get removed from the Philippine National Police (PNP) drug watchlist. His efforts stood in contrast to the Duterte administration’s aggressive campaign against illegal drugs.
Beyond his rehabilitation work, he was active in religious media, previously hosting Barangay Simbayanan and founding AlmuSalita, a social media initiative to spread the Gospel.
Arriving in the Philippines in the early 2000s, Felloni served in several parishes, including the Mother of Divine Providence in Payatas, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Caloocan, and most recently, Kristong Hari Parish – Shrine of the Youth in Quezon City.
His passing has left a deep impact on friends and followers. The Servant’s Chronicles called on the faithful to pray for his soul, while others, including Lino Esperas, remembered him as a compassionate and kind-hearted priest whose presence will be greatly missed.
