Six-year-old girl in critical condition after assault by playmate’s mother in Caloocan

Caloocan City police reported on Monday that a six-year-old girl is in critical condition after being violently assaulted by her playmate’s mother inside the suspect’s home.

According to a Phil Star Global report, citing local authorities, the victim was playing with her friend when the suspect suddenly attacked her. The suspect’s own child later recounted the incident to investigators, stating that the mother repeatedly slammed the girl’s head against a toilet bowl before shaking her violently.

A relative of the suspect, alarmed by the commotion, discovered the injured child vomiting blood and immediately sought medical help. The victim sustained severe head injuries and bruises and remains under critical care at the hospital.

Police said the suspect had recently given birth and was reportedly suffering from postpartum depression. She has been arrested and is facing charges of frustrated murder.
