Tristar Group has unveiled details of a Half Marathon to be held on February 23 at Dubai’s Nad Al Sheba and Meydan District. This is the second such event presented by the Dubai-headquartered global energy logistics firm, after launching the Tristar Community Run in February last year.
The Tristar Half Marathon will feature four runs of 21.1km, 10km, 5km and 3km, across scenic routes juxtaposed against the Dubai skyline. Registration is open in various categories across different age groups for a nominal fee, while participants for the 3km race can enrol for free. Male and female winners in the two longest races will win cash prizes.
Eugene Mayne, Group CEO of Tristar said he was delivering on a public promise: “Last year, after we concluded a successful community run, I announced a bigger event with greater impact, and our teams have been working on it. We have been promoting road safety for 25 years, and the marathon is a symbiotic extension.”
The online event registration portal, Premier Online, has already attracted hundreds of runners since it opened on January 16, with maximum participation registered in the 21.1km and 10km races. The list features serious runners from the African, European, Middle East and Asia-Pacific regions, but Mayne says the format makes it appealing for both, advanced runners and first timers. “The half marathon format is quickly becoming popular in the UAE, and we look forward to awarding all the winners on our safe roads,” he added.
Tristar Group has operated as a ‘Business for Purpose’ since 1998 and is committed to community welfare where it operates specifically in the African Continent. The company’s current partnership with Dubai’s Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) promotes road safety awareness among young school children.
