The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has issued a warning to the public about the increasing prevalence of “cross-country” or “third-country” recruitment schemes targeting Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) online.
The reminder comes after reports of possible human trafficking involving Filipinos from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, being sent to Nigeria and other West African countries for forced criminal activities, such as working in online scam facilities.
The DMW urged everyone to stay vigilant and avoid falling prey to fake recruiters, which can lead to illegal recruitment, human trafficking, and online scams. Cases of such incidents should be immediately reported via email at airtipinfo@dmw.gov.ph or through the DMW’s official Facebook page at www.facebook.com/dmwairtip.
