UAE makes history with launch of advanced observation satellite

The UAE launched the MBZ-SAT, the most advanced observation satellite in the Middle East, on Tuesday night. The satellite was sent into orbit aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, marking a significant achievement in the UAE’s space exploration efforts.

Developed entirely by Emirati engineers at the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), the MBZ-SAT represents a breakthrough in the UAE’s space ambitions. The satellite boasts advanced imaging capabilities, producing high-resolution images with details as small as one square meter. Its enhanced productivity is ten times greater than current systems, and data sharing is three times faster, enabling real-time benefits across various sectors, including disaster management.

MBRSC completed the satellite’s final tests at SpaceX facilities in the United States before the successful launch, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
