The speed limit on Sheikh Mohammed bin Salem Street in Ras Al Khaimah will be lowered from 100 km/h to 80 km/h starting January 17, according to authorities. The change applies to the stretch from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Roundabout (Al Rafaa) to Al Marjan Island Roundabout, Gulf News reported.
In line with the adjustment, Ras Al Khaimah Police will recalibrate radar settings on the road to 101 km/h instead of the current 121 km/h.
Brigadier Ahmed Al Sam Al Naqbi, Director-General of Central Operations at Ras Al Khaimah Police, explained that the decision aligns with the Ministry of Interior’s strategy to enhance road safety and reduce accidents caused by speeding.
The road, a vital link passing through residential, tourist, and commercial areas, spans Al Rafaa, Al Jazira Al Hamra, and Mina Al Arab before reaching Al Marjan.
