Flight attendant survives deadly Jeju Air crash but recalls nothing of the incident

A male flight attendant who survived the Jeju Air 7C 2216 crash on Sunday appears to have no memory of the tragic event, according to doctors at Mokpo Hankook Hospital. The accident, which occurred at Muan International Airport in South Jeolla Province, claimed the lives of 179 people.

According to The Korea Herald report, the survivor reportedly asked medical staff, “What happened? How am I here?” during an initial evaluation. He stated that his last memory was fastening his seatbelt for landing, believing the plane was about to arrive safely. He has no recollection of the crash that followed.

The flight attendant, stationed near the back of the aircraft, sustained injuries to his left shoulder and head. Another survivor, a female passenger, is also receiving treatment at the same hospital.

The flight, carrying 175 passengers and six crew members, overshot the runway and collided with a perimeter fence before igniting. The incident occurred around 9 a.m., leaving only two survivors. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash.
