Man ordered by UAE court to repay AED78,000 swindled from job seeker

A man has been ordered by the Al Dhafra Court of First Instance to return Dh78,000 he fraudulently obtained from a young woman in Abu Dhabi under the pretense of securing her a lucrative job, Gulf News reported.

The victim, who hails from the Al Dhafra region, responded to a job advertisement on a reputable website. The man, posing as a recruitment agent, promised her a prestigious position with an attractive salary. He then persuaded her to transfer the amount, claiming it was for employment processing and investments.

After realizing she had been deceived, the woman filed a lawsuit. The court ruled in her favor, ordering the defendant to pay back the amount, along with legal interest at 12 per cent from the date of the claim, and cover court fees and expenses.

The defendant was convicted of fraud for his actions, which involved using deceptive methods to steal the money.
