Three Pakistani men, aged between 25 and 35, were sentenced to one month in prison and deportation for illegally leaving the UAE to avoid prosecution in a murder case in Dubai’s Umm Al Ramool area. Their trial for the murder charges is scheduled to begin on January 8, 2025.
According to a Khaleej Times report, the murder occurred on March 26, 2024, within the Al Rashidiya Police Station’s jurisdiction. Court records revealed that the men fled the UAE a day later by evading official checkpoints and hiding in a truck driven by a compatriot, crossing the border into Oman.
Omani authorities identified their illegal entry and linked them to the Dubai murder. The suspects were arrested and handed over to Dubai Police on April 8, 2024.
The Dubai Public Prosecution charged the men under Federal Decree-Law No. 29 of 2021 for illegal exit and entry, alongside their alleged involvement in the murder. During remote court proceedings, the defendants admitted to bypassing checkpoints to leave the UAE illegally.
While their sentence for illegal exit has been issued, the murder trial is ongoing, with further hearings set to determine their role in the crime.
