Philippine Pencak Silat team shines in Abu Dhabi, ranks 5th overall at world championship

The Philippine Pencak Silat Team delivered an impressive performance at the 2024 World Pencak Silat Championship held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, from December 18 to 22. Competing against 57 nations, the team secured an outstanding 5th place overall.

Comprising five coaches and 22 athletes, the team participated in most event categories, showcasing exceptional skills in both artistic displays and combat matches. Their efforts stood out in a competition featuring over 1,200 participants, making it one of the most prestigious events in the martial arts calendar.

The championship, hosted at the ADNEC Center and organized by the International Pencak Silat Federation, drew global talent and underscored the sport’s growing popularity.

Abu Dhabi PE Third Secretary and Vice Consul Regatta Marie A. Antonio-Escutin joined the team during the closing ceremony to celebrate their remarkable achievements and the Philippines’ strong presence in the international Pencak Silat arena.
