2.3 million travelers expected at NAIA this holiday season, says NNIC

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is bracing for a record-breaking 2.3 million passengers this Christmas season, reflecting a 10.95% increase compared to the previous year, according to the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC).

NNIC President Ramon Ang assured travelers that the airport is fully prepared to manage the holiday rush. “We are committed to making the experience as safe and comfortable as possible during this festive time,” Ang stated.

To accommodate the surge, NNIC has coordinated with agencies such as the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), the Department of Transportation (DOTr), and the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group. Measures include additional staffing, optimized terminal operations, enhanced security protocols, and improved facilities like expanded curbside lanes and a centralized transport hub at Terminal 3.

NAIA is currently handling an estimated 140,000 to 150,000 passengers daily, with the figure expected to peak at 156,000. Passengers are advised to arrive at least two and a half hours before domestic flights and up to four hours before international departures.

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) also projects 4.5 million passengers will travel through port terminals from December 15 to January 3.
