Abu Dhabi residents can now receive full support when a family member passes away in the emirate, following the expansion of the Sanadkom initiative by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH). Previously available only to UAE nationals, the program now covers all residents, simplifying procedures and eliminating fees for death-related transactions.
According to a Khaleej Times report, under this initiative, all costs associated with issuing death certificates, embalming, ambulance transportation, and repatriation of remains will be fully covered by the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an. The comprehensive support is designed to ease the emotional and financial burden on families during a difficult time.
Sanadkom’s services ensure that bereaved families don’t need to visit government entities to complete procedures. Instead, processes are handled directly at the healthcare facility where the death occurs. A representative is assigned to assist families with all formalities, including obtaining permits and preparing reports.
The initiative operates through a centralized platform connecting seven government entities, including DoH, Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, and Abu Dhabi Pension Fund, ensuring a streamlined process.
Her Excellency Hind Al Zaabi, Executive Director of the Customer Experience and Relation Sector at DoH, highlighted the department’s commitment to providing compassionate and efficient services to all residents. “Sanadkom ensures bereaved families receive the support they need without worrying about costs or procedures, reflecting the vision of our wise leadership,” she said.
Launched in January 2024, Sanadkom has already assisted numerous families and is now poised to benefit the wider community in Abu Dhabi.
