The family of Michael Lomibao, an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) from Pangasinan, confirmed his safe return after nearly two weeks of searching. Lomibao, who arrived in the Philippines on December 2, 2024, fell victim to a robbery at a terminal in Manila.
On Friday, December 13, 2024, his family was able to contact him and confirmed his safety. They discovered that a couple running a stall at the terminal had assisted him.
According to his sibling, Elem Bautista, Lomibao encountered three men armed with knives who forcibly took his belongings. “Nanlaban daw siya, pero natalo siya sa dami nila,” Bautista said in a GMA News report. Lomibao reportedly lost consciousness after attempting to resist the robbers, who left him bruised and battered.
Jerrylyn Parahan, Lomibao’s niece, credited a friend of the family working as a security guard at the terminal for locating him after seeing social media posts about his disappearance.
Despite his injuries, Lomibao is now in stable condition and is staying with relatives in Laguna. He is expected to return to Pangasinan soon.
“Masaya na kami at nakauwi na siya,” Bautista said, expressing gratitude to those who helped her brother during the ordeal.
