Veteran actress Janice de Belen has spoken out in defense of her daughter, Kaila Estrada, after the young actress was unfairly labeled as the “anak ng cheater” on social media. The comments surfaced following the announcement of Kaila’s role in the upcoming action series Incognito.
The series, starring Ian Veneracion, Richard Gutierrez, and Daniel Padilla, has drawn significant attention, not just for its star-studded cast but also for controversies involving co-stars Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings. Allegations of infidelity, brought to light by Jennings’ ex-girlfriend Jam Villanueva, have added fuel to the fire.
Kaila, who is one of the main cast members, became a target of online memes referencing past controversies involving her father, John Estrada.
“You know, I hate that people brand other people something like that. It’s unfair. You damage their reputation,” Janice said in a Latest Chicka report.
She also criticized the role social media plays in amplifying negativity, describing it as a toxic space for public figures. “It’s hard to be an artist these days. On social media, you become a target. I just hope people choose to be kinder,” she added.
Encouraging positivity, Janice reflected on the original purpose of the internet—to connect and inspire people. She urged netizens to focus on spreading uplifting messages rather than contributing to the negativity.
Meanwhile, Ian Veneracion, one of Kaila’s co-stars, expressed concern over the controversy surrounding their colleagues but hoped it would not overshadow their work on Incognito.
