Doc Ferds Recio, host of the popular show Born To Be Wild, sparked discussions online after calling out a vlogger who allegedly abandoned their dog and refused to pay for its treatment.
In a recent social media post, Doc Ferds shared that the vlogger’s pet was diagnosed with blood parasitism and required treatment costing ₱15,000. However, the owner allegedly refused to cover the confinement fees and left the dog behind.
“A well-known vlogger refused to pay the ₱15,000 confinement fees for treating this sweet dog’s blood parasitism and abandoned him completely,” wrote Doc Ferds in his post.
Thankfully, the story had a happy ending. According to Doc Ferds, another kindhearted individual took responsibility for the medical expenses and gave the dog a new home. “Fortunately, someone else stepped in and gave him a loving home, where he’s now thriving,” he added.
The post drew reactions from netizens and organizations like the Philippine Animal Rescue Team (P.A.R.T.), who criticized the vlogger’s behavior. “Kukuha lang ng bagong puppy ‘yan Doc Ferds, tapos pag nagkasakit abandon na naman,” the group commented.
Netizens also expressed outrage, urging Doc Ferds to reveal the identity of the vlogger to hold them accountable. Comments ranged from disbelief over the cruelty to calls for boycotting the vlogger’s content.
“₱15,000 is such a small amount compared to the life of this poor dog. He didn’t deserve to be abandoned like this,” wrote one user.
