Singer Regine Velasquez addressed a netizen’s comment on X (formerly Twitter), alleging she only values her fans during concert season.
The netizen claimed, “[She only loves her] fans [during] concert [season].”
Velasquez responded firmly, emphasizing that she never forces her fans to support her concerts or music. “When did I ever ask you for something I need? Did I ask you for money? I invite you to watch my concerts, sure, but I’m not forcing you to. I ask if you can listen to my songs, which are practically free, but I’m not compelling you. If you don’t want to, it’s fine with me,” she replied.
The Asia’s Songbird also clarified that admiration from fans is not something she demands. “I never forced you to admire me—you decided to do that. But you saying these things as if you’re the one supporting me, what’s that about?” she added.
Velasquez further addressed the expectations placed upon her by the netizen, pointing out the disconnect between public perception and reality. “You have so much expectations of me. You don’t even know me personally; you just think you know me, but you don’t. God bless you,” she concluded.
Following the exchange, the netizen’s account was set to private.
Meanwhile, Regine’s husband, singer Ogie Alcasid, expressed his support with a simple yet heartfelt message: “Baba, I love you.”
