Woman arrested for faking pregnancy to evade EDSA bus lane fine

A woman was taken into custody at the EDSA Carousel Santolan station yesterday after attempting to fake a pregnancy to avoid penalties for illegally using the exclusive EDSA bus lane.

The Department of Transportation reported that the woman, claiming to be two months pregnant and experiencing a medical emergency, was apprehended for multiple violations. Authorities revealed she also attempted to bribe a traffic enforcer with P500 and presented a calling card bearing the name of a Philippine National Police (PNP) director in an effort to influence officers handling the case.

The driver, whose name remains undisclosed, faces charges of bribery, influence peddling, and illegal use of the EDSA busway, among others. The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a show-cause order requiring her to appear in a hearing to address the violations.
