Comedienne and actress Rufa Mae Quinto has a warrant of arrest issued against her, her lawyer confirmed on Monday. The case is tied to investor complaints involving the skin care company Dermacare.
According to Atty. Mary Louise Reyes, Quinto is facing 14 counts of violating Section 8 of the Securities Regulation Code, but clarified that the charges do not include large-scale or syndicated estafa.
In a statement shared on social media, Reyes assured supporters that an official statement would be released on Tuesday, December 3. “We appreciate the overwhelming support, as well as your understanding and continued trust in Ms. Quinto during this challenging time,” Reyes said.
This development follows the earlier arrest of actress-entrepreneur Neri Naig at a convention in Pasay City. Naig is accused of estafa and securities violations, allegedly for encouraging investments in the same company.
