The Philippine government recently hosted the Halal Investment Forum at the Philippine Pavilion in Abu Dhabi, showcasing the country’s Halal-certified products and services as part of the Tatak Pinoy Excellence initiative. The event served as a platform for collaboration and innovation in the thriving global Halal industry.
Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Alfonso Ver, along with key speakers including Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Halal Development Program Manager Aleem Guiapal, DTI Regional Operations Group Director Al-Zamir Lipae, Prime Group CEO Dr. Mary Jane Alvero, PH-Saudi Arabia Business Council Co-Chair Elsie Chua, Trade Commissioner Vichael Roaring of the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Dubai, and MPQ Travel and Tourism CEO Malou Prado, led discussions aimed at fostering a Halal-friendly future.
The forum coincided with the Abu Dhabi International Food Exhibition (ADIFE) 2024, where the Philippine Pavilion showcased an array of Halal-certified products across categories such as food, beverages, snacks, and natural ingredients. These offerings highlighted the Philippines’ commitment to quality and innovation, blending traditional Filipino flavors with modern product advancements.
Guiapal emphasized the importance of the Philippines’ participation in the Middle East’s growing Halal market, stating, “Our Halal-certified products are a testament to the Philippines’ dedication to quality and innovation. This exhibition is an excellent opportunity to strengthen trade ties with the UAE and introduce the world to the unique flavors and offerings of our country.”
The initiative, supported by the Tatak Pinoy Industrial Policy (TPIP) Program under the DTI, aimed to provide a platform for Filipino MSMEs to tap into the lucrative Halal market. It also sought to create new opportunities for businesses to expand their reach while promoting Philippine excellence on an international stage.
