All-female group summoned by Dubai Police for dangerous stunts in viral video

Following the emergence of a viral video featuring a group of girls performing reckless stunts on motorcycles and concealing their number plates, Dubai Police have summoned the individuals involved. The arrest came swiftly as the video depicting the girls “riding without holding the handlebars, standing on the motorcycle, and riding on one wheel” circulated widely on social media platforms.

Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, remarked, “Moreover, one of the motorcyclists concealed the number plate of the motorcycle, believing that this action would help her evade legal consequences.”

Authorities have confiscated the motorcycles used in the stunts and have issued several traffic violations against the girls involved. As per the Federal Traffic Law, the offenders face a fine of Dh2,000 and 23 traffic points, coupled with a 60-day vehicle impoundment.

Adding gravity to the charges is the recent Decree No. 30 of 2023 on traffic violations and vehicle impoundment. This legislative piece introduces a Dh50,000 fine for releasing impounded vehicles and underlines severe penalties for reckless driving that endangers the safety of the driver and others.

Major General Al Mazroui emphasized the serious repercussions of such dangerous behavior, noting that a significant majority, around 80%, of those indulging in reckless driving have found themselves in grave accidents, with outcomes ranging from severe injuries to fatalities.

In a call to action, the official urged community members to remain vigilant and promptly report any reckless driving incidents or violations either by calling 901 or utilizing the ‘Police Eye’ service available on the Dubai Police smart app. This step, he indicated, would be a cornerstone in enhancing road safety and ensuring compliance with traffic laws, cultivating a safer environment for all road users in Dubai.
