The Kapuso historical series Pulang Araw, starring Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, David Licauco, and Alden Richards, is set to reach the moon as part of the Lunar Codex project. This marks the first time a Filipino TV series will be included in a time capsule destined for the moon.
As reported on GMA’s 24 Oras, the series will be part of the Polaris collection, which is slated to land on the Lunar South Pole in 2025. The inclusion recognizes the show’s portrayal of Philippine history and the courage of Filipinos during its storyline.
“We’re very honored that our project was chosen to be part of the Lunar Codex. It’s an incredible opportunity,” shared Alden Richards. Sanya Lopez echoed his sentiments, expressing pride in being among the limited works selected for the initiative.
Founded by Dr. Samuel Peralta, the Lunar Codex project will preserve works from over 40,000 contemporary artists, writers, musicians, and filmmakers from 185 countries, aiming to safeguard cultural artifacts for future generations. Filipino contributions also include music from SB19, Ryan Cayabyab, and the Valenciano family.
Using advanced NanoFiche technology, the works are miniaturized and stored on small discs about the size of a coin, enabling them to withstand space travel.
