Ilocano unity takes center stage as CIASI marks 11th anniversary in Dubai

The Ilocano spirit radiated in Dubai on November 23, 2024, as the Confederation of Ilocano Association Inc. (CIASI), also known as Samahang Ilokano, celebrated its 11th founding anniversary. Organized by Caredant Event Management, the event brought together members and leaders from the UAE and beyond to honor the organization’s enduring legacy of unity, resilience, and cultural pride.

Prominent guests, including FilSoc President Ericson Reyes and his officers, attended the celebration, lauding CIASI’s significant contributions to the Filipino community in the UAE. Guest of honor Gabriel John Rimando, a long-time CIASI member since 1997, shared a heartfelt speech about his transformative journey within the organization. “Through the years, CIASI has shaped me into the man I am today. The challenges and experiences I’ve encountered as a member have taught me strength, perseverance, and the value of community,” he said.

The milestone event highlighted the induction of new officers from CIASI’s UAE chapters, representing Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Dubai, and the Sorority UAE. Each chapter showcased their talents and cultural pride through lively intermission numbers, creating an atmosphere filled with camaraderie and joy.

The evening was also a testament to the organization’s global influence, with congratulatory messages pouring in from CIASI chapters worldwide. With approximately 250 chapters across the globe, including in the United States, Canada, Saudi Arabia, and Australia, CIASI continues to unite Ilocanos through shared heritage and mutual support.

Founded in the Ilocos region, CIASI began as a university-based group supporting Ilocano students adapting to city life. Officially registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC Reg. No. 61892), it has since evolved into a global organization fostering unity and cultural preservation among Ilocanos worldwide. Today, CIASI’s programs extend beyond cultural activities to include community building and advocacy, empowering its members to succeed.

Membership in CIASI offers individuals of Ilocano descent, and those who appreciate Ilocano values, opportunities for growth, leadership, and lifelong friendships. Interested individuals can reach out to local chapters, attend an orientation, and embrace the organization’s core values of unity, support, and mutual respect.
