Actor JC de Vera recently shared a past experience with actress-vlogger Alex Gonzaga that left him feeling offended during their initial meeting. Speaking on One News PH’s program Long Conversation, hosted by Stanley Chi, JC reflected on the moment, which he now considers amusing.
When asked if he had ever worked with a co-actor who showed an attitude, JC recalled his first encounter with Alex during an out-of-town shoot early in their working relationship. He recounted wearing red sunglasses on set when Alex asked him, “JC, original ba ’yang shades mo?”
The question caught him off guard. “Natawa ako kasi hindi ko alam kung maiinis ba ako o maaasar ako sa kanya. Pero definitely, na-offend ako,” JC admitted. He explained that the comment made him feel awkward, as it was his first time meeting her. “Parang, mukha ba akong nagsusuot ng fake?” he added.
Despite being momentarily hurt, JC chose to give Alex the benefit of the doubt. “Inisip ko na lang na baka ’yun ang way niya for being friendly,” he said. Their working relationship eventually improved, and they collaborated on another comedy project, where they became more comfortable with each other.
