Mercy Sunot, a cherished vocalist of the iconic OPM band Aegis, has died after battling cancer. The band shared the somber news through their official Facebook page on Monday morning.
“With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Mercy, one of our beloved vocalists. She bravely fought her battle with cancer but has now found peace,” Aegis announced in a heartfelt statement.
The group praised Mercy for her impactful career, highlighting how her powerful voice “brought comfort, joy, and strength to so many,” touching countless lives with each performance. “Her passion, warmth, and unforgettable presence on stage will forever be cherished in our hearts,” they added, expressing gratitude for her contributions to the band and their fans.
Mercy’s sister and fellow Aegis member, Stephanie Ken, marked the moment by changing her profile photo to a black image with a lit candle on Facebook and Instagram.
Just days before her passing, Mercy had posted a call for prayers on social media following a lung surgery.
