UAE strengthens relief efforts in the Philippines after storm Kristine devastation

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), recently assessed the progress of the UAE’s humanitarian response in the Philippines following the impact of tropical storm Kristine (Trami).

According to a WAM report, during a phone conversation with the ERC delegation stationed in Manila, Sheikh Hamdan was updated on the ongoing relief operations. He emphasized that the ERC is fully mobilized to fulfill President Sheikh Mohammed’s vision of providing aid to countries in need, without regard to race or religion.

The ERC delegation has completed the first phase of distributing aid in Sorsogon, the province most affected by the storm. Humanitarian supplies were delivered to various municipalities, including Bulan, Irosin, Coban, Kasi Goran, and Sorsogon City. This marks the second team sent to oversee the relief initiatives.

UAE Ambassador to the Philippines, Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, highlighted the deep bilateral relationship between the UAE and the Philippines, stating that offering support during such crises is part of the UAE’s commitment to human solidarity. Philippine Secretary of Social Welfare and Development, Rex Gatchalian, lauded the UAE’s swift response and the ERC’s effective efforts in reaching those in need.
