The 2024 Presidential Award for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas (PAFIOO) has named Larry Carumba as one of its distinguished honorees under the “Pamana ng Pilipino Award” category. This recognition, bestowed by the Office of the President, highlights Carumba’s exceptional contributions as a visual artist and his impact on promoting Filipino culture within the Saudi Arabian art community. He will be receiving the prestigious Gawad ng Pangulo Medal from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during the awarding ceremony on December 11, 2024, at Malacañan Palace. Additionally, Carumba will be presented with a Plaque of Recognition by the Chairperson of the Commission on Filipino Overseas (CFO).
Hailing from Victorias and Bacolod City in Negros Occidental, Carumba’s journey to success is marked by resilience, talent, and self-discovery. A graduate of business management from La Salle University and Don Bosco, he embarked on a path that would take him from the familiar landscapes of his hometown to the vibrant cultural expanse of Saudi Arabia. Carumba’s story began 32 years ago when he arrived in Saudi Arabia. It was here, in a foreign land far from the art academies of the Philippines, that he discovered his true passion. Without formal training, he spent 18 years nurturing his innate artistic abilities, ultimately becoming a self-taught visual artist whose work has captivated audiences throughout the Middle East.

Driven by his commitment to personal growth and reliance on God-given talents, he developed an artistic practice that has set him apart as one of the most notable Filipino artists abroad.
