New app transforms travel options for RAK residents

Ras Al Khaimah residents and visitors can now enjoy more convenient commutes with the launch of Sayr, a new app by the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA). This all-in-one platform simplifies access to various modes of transportation, including buses, taxis, ride-sharing services, and marine transport.

Designed to streamline travel, the Sayr app helps users plan and book their journeys by entering their starting point and destination. The app provides real-time schedules, route tracking, and secure payment options to enhance the commuting experience.

“Sayr acts as a smart gateway for all transportation needs,” stated Eng Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi, Director General of RAKTA, in a Khaleej Times report. He emphasized that integrating public transport, ride-sharing, and electric scooters into one platform simplifies travel planning and booking.

Currently, the app covers all city and intercity bus routes in Ras Al Khaimah, with future plans to include vehicle rentals. Built on the Mobility as a Service (MaaS) model, Sayr aims to provide seamless, user-friendly mobility solutions that reduce travel time and expenses.

Al Blooshi noted that the MaaS model represents a shift towards sustainable and efficient urban transport. “Sayr is not just about convenience but also about reducing costs, lowering pollution, and easing traffic congestion,” he added.
