The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has expanded support for those in need by enabling the use of its guarantee letters (GL) at 171 Mercury Drug stores nationwide. This document, issued by the DSWD, ensures payment for beneficiaries’ medical expenses, covering essentials such as medicines and hospital bills.
DSWD Undersecretary for Operations Monina Josefina Romualdez formalized this partnership through an agreement with Mercury Drug, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to meeting the healthcare needs of vulnerable populations. “This partnership is a testament to the efforts of the DSWD in addressing the medical needs of the poor,” she said in a PhilStar report.
Prominent branches now accepting GLs include Mercury Drug locations in Fairview Commonwealth, Ever Gotesco Commonwealth, Visayas Avenue in Tandang Sora, Marikina, J.P. Rizal, and Plaza Miranda in Quiapo. This initiative forms part of the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), which offers a range of support, including medical, burial, and financial assistance, for those facing difficult times.
