Elevating hospitality: Filipina PR leader drives impact across the UAE

Rising through the ranks of Dubai’s dynamic hospitality industry requires more than just skill—it demands passion, resilience, and a genuine connection to the work. For Anjeanette Manuel, a Filipino professional making waves in public relations, these qualities have been the driving force behind her remarkable career.

Currently serving as the Country PR Manager for the prestigious Rixos brand, her contributions to the field have not only transformed the brand’s presence but have also earned her the title of In-House PR Person of the Year 2024 by Hotelier Middle East.

Born and raised in Dubai, Anjeanette’s career in public relations didn’t happen overnight. With a journalism degree from one of Manila’s most prestigious universities, her early career involved marketing roles within luxury hospitality. Yet, it wasn’t until she stepped into the world of PR at Rixos Hotels that she found her true calling.

“I’ve basically had hospitality in my DNA since day one,” she shared in an exclusive interview with The Global Filipino Magazine. “What really fuels me isn’t just managing brands—it’s telling stories that matter, building connections that last, and creating experiences people won’t forget. For me, it’s all about sparking conversations that make an impact—and maybe creating a little magic along the way.”

This deep connection to hospitality is evident in the way she approaches her role as Country PR Manager. From overseeing some of the most luxurious properties across the Middle East and Europe to spearheading initiatives that resonate with communities, Anjeanette’s journey reflects her commitment to making a difference beyond the usual scope of public relations.

When asked about her most memorable experiences at Rixos, Anjeanette recalled several moments that shaped her career. One particularly impactful project was the Autism certification initiative, which raised awareness and made a tangible impact within the community.

“Spearheading the communication for our Autism certification initiative was one of the most fulfilling experiences I’ve had,” she noted. “We didn’t just raise awareness; we actually made a real difference in people’s lives—which, let’s be honest, feels way better than just sending out press releases all day.”

In addition to this, she orchestrated a sustainable art exhibition, mingling with high-profile delegates while maintaining her poise. Anjeanette’s involvement in the “Ride with Rixos” initiative, which partnered with brands for causes she deeply cares about, further highlights her commitment to meaningful work. These projects, she explains, keep her motivated and passionate about her role.

“At the end of the day, it’s the meaningful connections that keep me going,” she said. “I’m lucky that my role lets me work on projects that leave a lasting impact.”

Receiving the In-House PR Person of the Year 2024 award was a moment of both pride and surprise for Anjeanette. “I’m still pinching myself—and still a little speechless (which is rare for a PR person, trust me!),” she quipped.

For Anjeanette, this award symbolizes not just personal success, but also the hard work of her entire team. “It’s incredibly humbling and, honestly, feels like a win not just for me, but for my entire team who hustles just as hard.”

The key to her success? Building genuine relationships. “I’ve always believed it’s the real, human connections that truly set us apart,” she reflected. “That has been the secret sauce to my success, and I’m beyond grateful that it helped me land this incredible recognition.”

Anjeanette’s rise in Dubai’s competitive hospitality industry didn’t come without its challenges. For those looking to follow in her footsteps, she offers straightforward advice: “Buckle up because it’s a wild ride, but an exciting one!”

She emphasizes the importance of building relationships, staying innovative, and being patient. “This city runs on connections, and you never know which casual coffee chat could turn into your next big career move. Dubai loves innovation, so bring your unique perspective to the table.”

Patience, she adds, is key. “Success doesn’t always happen overnight. Stay focused, stay resilient, and remember to enjoy the journey.”

Looking ahead, Anjeanette sees a bright and innovative future for the UAE’s hospitality industry. “Sustainability will be a game-changer,” she predicts. “We’ll see more hotels with green roofs than pool decks, and with the rise of tech, we might even be checking in with a robot concierge!”

But beyond technology and sustainability, she believes the industry’s future lies in creating personalized experiences that go beyond luxury. “It’s about those unique, meaningful moments that make people feel special,” she said. “No one does over-the-top hospitality like the UAE.”
