Philippine Consul General to Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Marford M. Angeles, was recognized with the prestigious Diplomatic Excellence Award at the 24th Asian Business and Social Forum on September 27, 2024. The award, presented by AsiaOne Magazine, celebrates diplomats who have played a vital role in strengthening trade, tourism, and cultural ties between nations.
Angeles, who currently leads the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, has an extensive diplomatic background. Prior to his appointment in Dubai, he served as the Deputy Head of Mission at the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi from 2019 to 2024, and held key diplomatic positions in Kuala Lumpur and Sydney. Throughout his career, Angeles has consistently demonstrated a commitment to the welfare of Filipino nationals abroad.
As Consul General, Angeles has been particularly involved in initiatives supporting the Filipino community in the UAE. Notably, he spearheaded efforts related to the UAE Amnesty Program, which assists Filipinos in regularizing their residency status, helping overstaying Filipinos return to the Philippines without facing penalties.
Angeles now joins an esteemed group of past awardees, including Philippine Ambassador to Thailand Millicent Cruz Paredes, Philippine Ambassador to Portugal Paul Raymund Cortes, and former Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Constancio Vingno Jr.
