United States President Joe Biden emphasized the pride Filipino-Americans should feel for their achievements and aspirations as “dreamers and doers,” in a message celebrating Filipino American History Month. Dated October 21 (Washington time), Biden acknowledged the significant contributions of the Filipino-American community to the fabric of the nation.
“Since the founding of our country, Filipino-Americans have enriched the very essence of who we are as a people,” Biden said, highlighting the community’s leadership, dedication to public service, and contributions across various fields.
“They are the community leaders, who advocate and stand up for all of us… They are the first responders and service members, who put themselves at risk to keep the rest of us safe,” he added.
Biden further noted that Filipino-Americans represent America’s best qualities in diverse areas like sports, arts, entrepreneurship, public service, and health care. He encouraged members of the community to take pride in their own and their peers’ achievements during this significant celebration.
“Dreamers and doers like you embody the possibilities of this great nation—and that is a big part of the reason why I have never been more optimistic about our future,” Biden concluded.
