Illegal drug confiscations hit P49.82 billion under Marcos presidency

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has reported the confiscation of illegal drugs valued at P49.82 billion from July 1, 2022, to September 30, 2024, during the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

The seized drugs include 6,481.16 kilograms of shabu, 75.69 kilograms of cocaine, 115,081 ecstasy tablets, and 5,626.80 kilograms of marijuana. In addition, authorities have arrested 7,364 high-value targets in connection with these operations.

PDEA Public Information Office Chief Derrick Carreon highlighted the ongoing progress in the anti-drug campaign, noting an increase in both the volume and value of confiscated drugs. He also shared updates on the barangay clearing program, with 29,211 barangays now free from illegal drugs, although 6,292 remain drug-affected, particularly in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Central Luzon, and parts of Mindanao.

Carreon emphasized that the continued decline in drug-affected barangays signals the success of the national anti-drug effort.
