Dubai gala dinner celebrates cancer warriors with fashion and support

Twenty cancer patients from various nationalities were given a night to remember at the Walk of Hope Gala Dinner held on October 20, 2024, at the Millennium Airport Hotel in Dubai. Organized by Las Damas de Rizal DNE, a nonprofit group under the Knights of Rizal, the event aimed to provide an evening of pampering and glamour for cancer warriors, offering them a much-needed break from the daily challenges of their illness.

Ahead of the gala, the patients were treated to a luxurious pampering session at a local ladies’ salon, ensuring they looked and felt their best for the event. As a special highlight, fashion design students from Westford University dressed ten of the patients in custom-made “Pink is Beautiful” creations, symbolizing their strength and resilience.

The event was organized just in time for Cancer Awareness Month.

The evening was a collaboration between Las Damas de Rizal DNE and Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP) Sharjah, with key figures such as Madame Aisha Abdulla Al Mullah, Director of FOCP Sharjah, attending to show support. Also present were Madame Mariame Mohammed Al Harmoodi, Head of Community Affairs, and Madame Manal Ali, Community Affairs Executive.

The gala, which was more than just a dinner, aimed to celebrate life, strength, and healing. It provided an escape for the cancer patients, giving them a glamorous evening to enjoy, away from the routine of treatments and hospital visits. Las Damas de Rizal DNE, whose members include several cancer survivors themselves, organized the event to offer hope and support, making it a night to remember for all involved.
