GITEX event in Dubai draws over 200,000 visitors, highlighting the rise of AI

The 44th edition of GITEX GLOBAL concluded in Dubai, drawing a record-breaking 200,000 visitors from across the globe. The event underscored the increasing importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in transforming industries, accelerating business growth, and reshaping the global economy.

The five-day event, which ended on Friday, brought together 6,500 exhibitors, 1,800 startups, and 1,200 investors from over 180 countries, marking the highest-ever international participation. The gathering solidified Dubai’s reputation as a premier global tech hub and showcased the city’s role in driving the future of technology and AI development.

Held under the theme “Global Collaboration to Forge a Future AI Economy,” GITEX GLOBAL 2024 not only spotlighted innovations but also set the stage for new business opportunities and partnerships. Each day focused on themes such as investment, cybersecurity, data centers, futuristic tech, and AI, reflecting the key pillars of the digital economy.

One of the key highlights was the announcement of numerous Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and strategic partnerships aimed at accelerating the global AI market, which is projected to reach USD $1.3 trillion by 2030. Over 40% of the participating nations, including first-time countries like South Africa, Puerto Rico, and Vietnam, contributed to fostering cross-regional collaborations that will further boost the AI ecosystem.

Top global tech players such as Oracle, Dell Technologies, and Microsoft showcased their latest AI-driven innovations at the event. Oracle celebrated 35 years of supporting the UAE’s AI ambitions, announcing collaborations with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment and Mashreq Bank. Dell Technologies discussed its AI Factory offerings and reinforced its long-standing commitment to the region’s digital growth, while Microsoft launched its AI National Skilling Initiative in partnership with UAE government departments to empower individuals and organizations in the AI era.

The event also hosted the first-ever World Future Economy Digital Leaders Summit and introduced GITEX Editions, focusing on AI regulation, digital finance, and innovations like autonomous vehicles and AI-powered healthcare. Discussions on cybersecurity emphasized the need for fortified digital infrastructures in response to emerging cyber threats, further reflecting the event’s comprehensive approach to shaping the global tech landscape.

As GITEX GLOBAL looks ahead, future editions will expand its global footprint with events in Morocco, Singapore, Berlin, and Nigeria. The next GITEX GLOBAL is set to take place from October 13-17, 2025, promising another year of innovation and collaboration that will shape the future of AI and digital transformation.
