Abu Dhabi drivers urged to avoid valleys and reduce speed as rain hits the emirate

Motorists in Abu Dhabi are being advised to exercise caution, avoid valleys, and follow reduced speed limits as heavy rain affects various parts of the emirate on Saturday.

The Abu Dhabi Media Office also recommended drivers to carry first-aid kits and have alternative light sources for emergencies.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported moderate to heavy rainfall in areas including Al Shawamekh, Mohamed Bin Zayed City, Bani Yas, and Shakhbout City. A video shared on social media captured rain hitting car windshields in Bani Yas.

Rain was expected as part of the NCM’s forecast for the weekend. The center also issued a yellow alert, warning of convective clouds that could bring more rain to eastern and western parts of the country until 10 PM.
