Patient stabs nurse to death in Bohol hospital

A 51-year-old female nurse was fatally stabbed by a patient inside a private hospital in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, on the morning of October 17. The incident occurred after the patient, identified as Marlito Cardines Linguis, 31, expressed dissatisfaction with his treatment, according to local police.

Lt. Col. John Kareen Escober, chief of the Tagbilaran City Police, stated in an Inquirer.net report that the motive behind the attack was hatred. Linguis, a resident of Barangay Magsaysay in Sevilla, allegedly reacted after being told by the nurse that he would remain hospitalized despite settling his bills.

Linguis, who had been admitted to the Bohol Doctors Hospital due to diarrhea, attacked the nurse with a pair of scissors. A utility worker, Francis Justiniare, 21, tried to intervene but was also stabbed. He managed to escape and alert hospital security.

The suspect was arrested and is currently detained, with murder charges set to be filed. The hospital has not yet released an official statement on the incident.
