Thousands of job opportunities for Filipino caregivers open in Croatia

Thousands of job opportunities await Filipino caregivers in Croatia under a newly established hiring program between the Philippines and the European country.

According to a report by JP Soriano on GMA News’ “24 Oras” this Wednesday, the special hiring program is part of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) signed by both nations. The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) revealed that Filipino caregivers could earn a minimum monthly salary of up to 1,000 euros, approximately ₱62,000, excluding overtime pay and other benefits.

DMW Undersecretary Patricia Yvonne Caunan shared that Croatia plans to open 18 senior care facilities, and they prefer hiring Filipino caregivers for these roles.

Apart from providing jobs, the MOC also ensures the protection of Filipino workers in Croatia. One common issue in Central and Eastern Europe is the illegal recruitment scheme that targets Filipinos, offering jobs through unauthorized means.

The DMW continues to remind the public to avoid recruitment through social media platforms and instead apply directly through official channels. Those seeking employment under the bilateral agreement should apply through the DMW, and if using an agency, verify its legitimacy and job order on the DMW website.
